Narrative
A grieving therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks
By ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives – including his own. The cast of “Shrinking” shares the defining moments that defined their characters in Season 1 and reveals who has the best Harrison Ford impression. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to be on the show, Segel said that Goldstein initially wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and would audition people who were similar to Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should bring it to Ford first, thinking he would turn it down immediately, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had brought the project, generating interest from other notable actors.
And the rest of the show is great, too
Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was thrilled nonetheless… Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). Jason Segel is a perfect fit for this script.
And Jessica is perfect
He has the weird, idiotically self-assured energy needed for the role. Her humor is right up there with the dialogue. It’s the new way to solve situations. No real punch lines, just engaging personalities with a pinch of weirdness and family circumstances that are just a little over the line but still relatable.
You’ll lose your license immediately
Of course, Jimmy’s therapist-like behavior is completely absurd. Just impossible. But we allow metaphorical situations in drama. And in this script, we sense a strong sense of purpose in the decisions.
Other reviewers have clearly struggled
We have to give the writers their due and try to get the gist. For me, it’s easy and fun.
